UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
Not long now before the British public make their voices heard.

The establishment have been shitting themselves as to what is going to happen and have been playing it down for months....but I don't think anyone is going to expect what will happen to tomorrow.

I Expect MASSIVE UKIP support and a MASSIVE Labour & Lib Dem kicking.

Roll on tomorrow.

Any of your predictions?

Don't worry they won't let you down the poor, unemployed, single mothers, the disabled and those with mental health problems will be hit hard by the Tories. The rich tax avoiders and the like will be safe though.

The Tories should take absolute control of the masses that voted them in.
Questions should by asked on how three generations of families have never worked for starters.
This country needs a massive shake up and the ponces should for once start shittimg bricks.

I'm all for more oddballs & wierdos in the government if it generates debate on subjects others would rather not discus. The internet seems to thrive on such mixtures*.

As for not getting things done, I suspect the opposite as those dragging their feet for pure self interest would quickly be found out and there's be less chance for under-the-counter, you-scratch-my-back-and-I'll-scratch-yours dealing.

* - cue the obvious attention diverting "Look, everybody! He's comparing government with the internet! What a wanker!" comments

Ah the old 'careful what you wish for' manouevre.

What you have now is shit but there is a 'chance' that it could be worse if we change it.

Don’t they have this after every election? the minor parties all curse that had there been proportional representation they would have significant seats or in the case of some of the more extreme parties, a seat.

If it did happen it could well be a case of careful what you wish for as there would be a parliament with a good portion of extremes from both ends of politics plus the odd real nutter, didn’t the monster raving Looney party poll like over 1% each election?, that would give them a few seats, then you have the likes of communists and fascists all of whom poll enough for a few seats, the Scottish,Welsh and Irish nationalists getting big allocations, parliament would be chaos with very little getting done.

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
The unrepresentative nature of the UK electoral system has been apparent for many years. That it has impacted UKIP as the 3rd party rather than the Liberals is besides the point - although it is funny to see the UKIPers get all indignant when they never gave a toss about the LIbs. The historic constituency based representative democracy is irrelevant in modern times but it suits the two main parties perfectly as it maintains the status quo.

None of this matters anyway as UK democracy is one great big illusion. The differences between the parties is superficial but exaggerated by the protagonists and the media to give the impression of choice. Those who really hold power continue to do so while the electorate are satisfied that they have had their chance to participate.

Any winners in a FPTP selection are the worst people to have any input as to whether or not the system needs changing. Turkeys 4 Xmas, innit?

Still, you all get that warm, traditional, BRITISH feeling when you go through the motions, don't you? And you've got far more important things to be getting on with and there's only so many hours in a day...

I also think the politics of love and (inter) national reconciliation is not sufficiently promoted by FPTP.

The rage of first past the post is not new in 1987

Labour got 10 million votes 30.8% got 229 seats

SDP/Lib alliance got 7.3 million votes 22.6% and got a mere 22 seats

Hermit has no idea what democracy is all about. He is all about the Holy See and the Church of Rome, and that gave up on the whole democracy thing as soon as the Soviet Union collapsed.

"Still no wonder you're bitter about the result having spent the best part of 6 weeks telling the world the Tories had no chance."

No, I didn't.

And I could C&P your PR ignorance but you'll probably disappear for another 6 months.

Still as a long term Tory supporter I've had a great night and day.

Still fuck UKIP who couldn't even defend one of their only two seats or get their leader elected in the seat they deemed to be the easiest.

The system is here to stay so you best get used to it and you best get used to a Tory government for the foreseeable future.

Haha thanks but I did, I just couldn't remember what the vote was on which is why I asked it as a question.

Still no wonder you're bitter about the result having spent the best part of 6 weeks telling the world the Tories had no chance.

Croe, 5 hours ago you didn't even know what PR is, it's difficult to take you serious then when you're pontificating on the subject of electoral systems.

Hermit Road 10:27 Fri May 8

Of course you can, what about the welsh parties and NI parties? They all beat UKIP. Why? The same reason the SNP gained 50 seats.

The SNP offered the people what they wanted in the seats they stood in. UKIP offered that in only ONE seat.

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
UKIP couldn't hang on to one of their 2 seats, they couldn't win the easy one they put Farge up for and ploughed all their monery into it.

Just out of hand, the UKIP person that stood in my seat didn't even actually live here, nor did the Green unlike the holding Tory and the challengers from Labour and Liberals and both got smashed to bits by the main two.
